Something not working, or a question the app does not answer? Start here, then email us if you are still stuck.
Get in touch
Email hello@swalescollective.co.uk. We read everything and aim to reply within two working days. It helps if you tell us which device you are on and what you were doing when the problem happened.
What BudgetKin is
BudgetKin is a budget planner. You enter what comes in, what is already committed to go out, and what you intend to spend, and it tells you what is left. It never connects to your bank, never shows a balance, and never lists past transactions. Everything on screen is about the money you have not spent yet.
Why does it not show my bank balance?
By design. BudgetKin has no connection to any bank and asks for no banking credentials. A balance tells you what has already happened; a plan tells you what is about to.
Why does everything show a monthly figure?
So that a weekly bill and a yearly one can be compared. Anything that is not already monthly is converted to an approximate monthly equivalent, and always labelled as approximate. The amount and frequency you entered are never changed.
I did not get my confirmation code
Check the spam or junk folder first — the code arrives from an automated address. The code is eight digits and expires, so request a fresh one from the app rather than reusing an old email. If nothing arrives at all, email us and we will confirm the account by hand.
I have forgotten my password
Choose Forgotten password on the sign-in screen. You will be emailed a code, and can set a new password once you have entered it.
Reminders are not arriving
Contract-ending reminders are scheduled on your device, so they need notification permission. Check your device settings for BudgetKin and confirm notifications are allowed. A reminder is only scheduled if the outgoing has a contract end date and a reminder window set.
Exporting your data
Open Settings, then Export your plan. You can take your plan as a spreadsheet to keep working on, or a PDF to print or send. If you would rather we sent you a copy of everything we hold, email us and we will.
Deleting your account
Open Settings and choose Delete account. You can also do it without the app, at /delete-account. Deletion is permanent: your plan and your account are removed, and we cannot restore them afterwards. If you pay for a subscription through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it there as well — deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription.
Reporting a problem
Email hello@swalescollective.co.uk with what you expected to happen and what happened instead. If it is a security issue, say so in the subject line and please do not post the details publicly until we have replied.
The legal bits
BudgetKin is operated by Swales Collective LTD. Our Terms and Privacy Policy set out the rest.
BudgetKin is a planning tool, not financial advice. It cannot tell you what to do with your money, and nothing in it should be treated as a recommendation.
